Released in 2015, I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside: An Album by Earl Sweatshirt is the second studio album from Earl Sweatshirt and the follow-up to 2013’s Doris. Across 10 tracks, Earl delivers one of his most personal and introspective releases, exploring isolation, depression, relationships and the pressures surrounding his growing career through dense lyricism and stark, understated production.

The album is largely self-produced under Earl’s randomblackdude alias, with nine of its ten tracks produced by him. Its distinctive sound combines hazy piano, lo-fi synths, heavy bass and reverb-soaked percussion, creating a dark and claustrophobic backdrop for his intricate rhymes. Guest appearances are deliberately limited, with contributions from Vince Staples, Wiki, Na’kel Smith and Dash, allowing Earl’s voice and production to remain firmly at the centre of the record.

More inward-looking and self-contained than his earlier work with the Odd Future collective, I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside marked an important step in Earl Sweatshirt’s artistic development and remains a compelling example of alternative and introspective hip-hop.
