More than 35 years after bursting onto the UK extreme metal scene, death metal pioneers Cancer return with their seventh studio album, Inverted World. Having built a formidable international reputation with genre-defining releases such as To the Gory End and Death Shall Rise—the latter featuring legendary guitarist James Murphy—the band cemented their place among the UK's most influential death metal acts before signing to EastWest Records under Warner Music.

Following their acclaimed 2018 comeback album Shadow Gripped, which reunited the original core trio for the first time since 1995, Cancer once again deliver their trademark blend of savage, thrash-infused death metal. Led by founding member, vocalist, guitarist and principal songwriter John Walker, the newly revitalised line-up combines blistering musicianship with uncompromising brutality.

Inverted World explores themes of manipulation, fanaticism and humanity's darker impulses, tackling subjects ranging from cult mentality and religious extremism to the abuse of power. Long-time fans will also appreciate Corrosive, which revisits the infamous tale of the acid bath murderer. Recorded at The Empty Hall Studio with Simon Da Silva and mixed by V. Santura (Triptykon, Obscura, Pestilence and Dark Fortress) at Woodshed Studio, Inverted World is presented on black vinyl with a printed inner sleeve featuring the complete lyrics, making it an essential addition for collectors and devotees of uncompromising death metal.
